The Growth of a Game hosted an American football development camp in Denmark for the first time ever from March 17th-19th and the result was a big success. The Growth of a Game Copenhagen Skills Camp welcomed 105 participants from 5 different countries – the largest turnout thus far in the organization’s camp series.
The weekend kicked off with a Friday evening coaches clinic led by Cody Hawkins, quarterbacks coach for the U.S. National Team. Coaches from 9 different teams met at Fremad Valby in Copenhagen for the clinic, which focused on philosophy and technique.
The skills camp took place on Saturday and Sunday at Valby Idrætspark, mixing on-field training sessions with off-field study sessions. Participants learned a lot over the course of the weekend, refined their knowledge and understanding of their respective positions, and connected with other players and coaches from around Denmark and beyond. The energy level grew with each practice session and the camp finished on a high note with some fun competition between the players and the coaching staff.
The Growth of a Game Copenhagen Skills Camp was led by several premier coaches, including Cody Hawkins, quarterbacks coach for the US National Team; Ryan Andersen, head coach for Copenhagen Tomahawks in Denmark; Dennis Svensson, head coach for the Amager Demons in Denmark; Victor Andersen, defensive coordinator for the Copenhagen Towers and linebackers coach for the Danish National Team; Peter Nicolajsen, quality control coach for the Copenhagen Towers in Denmark; Esben Mortensen, offensive line coach for the Danish National Team; and Henry Miller, head coach for the Copenhagen Tomahawks U19 team.
The Copenhagen Skills Camp was made possible by the contributions of various partners, including the Danish American Football Federation, TGI Fridays Denmark, Battle Sports Science, Hotel Rossini, Gear4Teams, Cramer Sports Medicine, Champro Sports, the Copenhagen Tomahawks, and Valby Idrætspark.
The Copenhagen Skills Camp was the 5th camp held by The Growth of a Game after its first four camps were held in Düsseldorf, Split, Vienna, and Bergamo, respectively. The organization’s next camp takes place in Brussels from July 3rd-7th, with upwards of 150 participants expected to be in attendance.
The Growth of a Game Copenhagen Skills Camp will return to Denmark again in March 2018.
