Players having fun on the final day of the Utrecht Skills Camp!

The Growth of a Game hosted its first ever American football development camp in Utrecht, Netherlands from September 9th-10th, 2017 and the result was a big success. The Growth of a Game welcomed players from previous camps and newcomers from different countries all over Europe.

The weekend kicked off Friday evening with a coaches’ clinic, which focused on philosophy and technique, led by Sebastian Serrano, head coach for the Portuguese National Team. Seven excellent coaches came from multiple countries across Europe to share their expertise with the committed athletes participating in the camp.

The skills camp took place on Saturday and Sunday at Sportpark Overvecht Noord, mixing on-field training sessions and off-the-field study sessions. Participants learned a lot over the course of the weekend, refined their knowledge and understanding of their respective positions, and connected with other players and coaches from around Utrecht and beyond. The energy level grew with each practice session and the camp finished on a high note with the players having some fun putting the skills they had learned into action.

The Growth of a Game Utrecht Skills Camp was led by several premier coaches, including Sebastian Serrano, head coach for the Portuguese National Team, Spencer Wood, offensive coordinator for the Munich Cowboys in Germany, Corné Heijnen, wide receivers coach for the 010 Rotterdam Trojans in the Netherlands, Mike Brown, defensive coordinator for the Gießen Golden Dragons in Germany, Wouter van den Boogaard, head coach for the Dutch Junior National Team, Hugo Pointillart, offensive line coach for the Hämeenlinna Huskies in Finland, René Hollart, head coach for the Utrecht Dominators in the Netherlands.
